HELLO!!! Now that I have your attention, just like this greeting, this ads main objective is to first and foremost grab the attention of the viewer. Then underneath it, it then advertizes its product on a huge billboard for everyone rushing by it can see. Using the word "Sex" as the ads attention getter, we can conclude that an underlying aspect that people find desirable is intercourse, as the topic of sex can be on the minds of many people with a wide variety of ages. Essentially this ad can target almost any one since it appeals to all humans, males and females; however more likely to males. This is why that one word is such an effective attention getter. It targets the inner desires of all humans to engage in this age old practice of joy and ecstasy. As the ad suggests, it screams out the word "sex" in order to grab the attention of people. In all honesty, if someone went into a public place say like a library or a restaurant and shrieked at the top of their lungs "sex" would you not turn your head due to reflex? It is nothing to be ashamed about; it is just a habitual aspect of the human race. I mean really, as much as the human race has grown and the changes made to human living with it, sex has always been a part of the human race, it is in our D.N.A. and we cannot control that. In any case, this advertisement simply grabs the reader's attention, very effectively I might add. Then its true statement of advertisement is revealed beneath the attention getter. However this ad would not necessarily appeal to everyone, typically those with the leniency and loose practice of behaving as such to truly appreciate the use of the word "sex" in that manner. The ad also does not promise that if you eat subway sandwiches that you will be promised sex, it is just a matter of tugging and taking advantage of the inner human desire for sex.

I must say that I find this ad to be hysterical, and I agree that the target audience are all the males in this world. I believe this more so because males are more likely to take advantage of the five dollar foot long subs essentially what the company is famous for. (I have never seen a girl finish an entire foot long from subway)
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty good ad. It grabs the audiences' attention with out even using any pictures. Yet the big bold letters that scream out "SEX!!" provide an eye drawing effect towards the ad. I like how Subway did not waste any time hiring an attractive model to put on the ad and make it sexual, but just wrote it out instead using just one word.
